Jonesborough police arrest 45 in October

Jonesborough police arrested 45 people in October, including seven for driving under the influence. Other arrests included charges of public intoxication, aggravated assault and drug violations.
Officers also issued 72 citations during October, for offenses ranging from speeding to registration violations. The majority of those citations were issued on West Jackson Boulevard.
Twenty-eight traffic crashes were reported in October, with eight resulting in injuries. The majority of crashes took place on East Jackson Boulevard.
Police K9 Rio helped with two arrests last month and four vehicle seizures.
The red light cameras along Highway 11E registered nearly 600 violations last month, resulting in approximately 440 tickets being mailed out to motorists.
The highest number of red light violations occurred at the intersection of Forest Drive and East Jackson Boulevard, heading southbound. The intersection of East Jackson Boulevard at Headtown Road, going westbound, recorded the most instances of speeding.
During October, the Jonesborough Fire Department answered 50 calls of service, including one house fire. The house fire occurred on Oct. 9 at 3142 Antioch Road. The other calls included everything from a vehicle fire to reports of a smoke smell.
Firefighters also spent time in October conducting inspections and creating pre-fire plans at area businesses.
