Jonesborough police arrest 34 in April

Jonesborough police arrested 34 people in April on charges including DUI, public intoxication, drug violations, domestic assault, aggravated burglary and child abuse.
Officers issued a total of 144 citations for the month of April, predominantly for speeding.
The majority of the citations were issued on West Jackson Boulevard, according to a monthly report filed by the Department of Public Safety.
Thirty-four traffic crashes were reported, with the majority taking place on East Jackson Boulevard. The rest were citywide, involving four injuries.
Traffic cameras registered 487 violations during April, resulting in 356 tickets being mailed out to drivers. Of the violations mailed, 219 were for running a red light and 137 were for speeding.
The highest volume of red light violations took place at the intersection of East Jackson Boulevard and Forrest Drive, followed by East Jackson Boulevard at Headtown Road, going eastbound. That same intersection was responsible for most of the speeding violations issued.
In April, the Jonesborough Fire Department answered 51 calls for services, however no structure fires were reported.
