Jonesborough plans e-waste collection

On April 26, Keep Jonesborough Beautiful will sponsor an e-waste collection as well as two clean-up projects within the Jonesborough town limits.
From 8 a.m. to noon, volunteers will work on clean-up projects in the area, and from noon to 2 p.m., volunteers are also needed for a special “Get Your Feet Wet” project along creek beds. The e-waste collection will also take place in the parking lot of the Jonesborough Visitors Center from 8 a.m. to noon.
This event will be part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup™, which is the largest volunteer event in America. In the last couple of years, an estimated 4.2 million volunteers in all 50 states participated in litter pickup, beautification, recycling and educational events.
In the past, all 95 counties participated in GAC in Tennessee. Tennesseans donated more than 333,293 hours to clean, beautify and improve more than 1,022 communities.
More than 8,324,757 pounds of litter was collected from 6,275 miles of Tennessee roads. More than 6.5 million pounds of recycling was collected as well. This will be Keep Jonesborough Beautiful’s first time participating in the Great American Clean up.
Volunteers are needed for clean-up and creek bed projects. Anyone interested in participating on April 26 is asked to call Maria Bledsoe at 913-6100 or Jeff Thomas at 753-1006.
