Jonesborough man charged with rape

A Jonesborough man was charged with raping a woman and holding her against her will last week.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, authorities arrested Jesse L. Hester, 45, 176 Al Sliger Road, following an investigation into a rape that allegedly occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 28 at Hester’s home.
Patrol officers received a call around 8:30 that morning regarding the rape.
When they arrived, officers found the rape victim, reportedly a woman in her late 20s who did not know Hester prior to that day, crying at a neighbor’s home on Al Sliger Road.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for numerous injuries.
Officers quickly developed Hester as a suspect and went to his home to speak with him.
Hester, however, tried to avoid police by crawling out a back window of the residence, which he reportedly shared with his brother.
Hester suffered a severe laceration to his hand during his escape attempt. He also had numerous scratches on his face that are believed to be from the rape victim.
Investigators interviewed witnesses to the crime, then charged Hester with rape and false imprisonment.
Hester’s bond was set at $150,000.
According to WCSO Capt. Shawn Judy, Hester has a criminal history of sexual assault charges. Hester is not, however, listed on the sex offender registry.
He also is wanted on a DUI charge in Florida, according to authorities.
