ISC receives state grant for $59,500
The International Storytelling Center has been awarded a $59,500 grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission.
The matching grant comes in the TAC category for Major Cultural Institutions, which awards operating funds to well-established arts organizations chartered in Tennessee.
Eligible organizations must have an annual cash operating expense, excluding all in-kind contributions, of at least $1 million each year.
We are deeply grateful to the Tennessee Arts Commission for the Major Cultural Institution grant in support of the International Storytelling Center and its operations, said Susan OConnor, ISC director of programs. The grant will help underwrite ISCs programming as we strive to bring quality arts programming to both the area and the nation.
The grant was one of seven awarded to programs in Washington County and makes up more than half of the $104,800 in funding for the grants.
Other grants awarded in Washington County are: $7,000 to Umoja/Unity Committee Inc. in the category of Arts Access; three grants totaling $20,300 to the Johnson City Area Arts Council in the categories of Arts Education-Community Learning, Funds for At-Risk Youth and Partnership Support; $13,000 to the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra in the category of Partnership Support; and $5,000 to John Hathaway in the category of Individual Artist Fellowship.
