H&T ad director named ‘hometown hero’

Washington County resident and Herald & Tribune Ad Director Bea Casey was recognized last week as a Hometown Hero by Modern Woodmen of America.
The recognition, honoring her countless hours of service to the community, was presented to Casey on Nov. 12 at Bojangles in Jonesborough by Modern Woodmen of America members and Jonesborough chapter activities coordinator and financial representative Roger Espinoza.
Casey was honored for her service with a certificate and a $100 award grant to be presented to the charitable organization of her choice.
Casey selected her church, Mountain Dale Freewill Baptist, of Erwin, to receive the money. It will be used for charitable projects conducted by the church.
“Our church is small, but it is involved in a variety of projects to help people in our community,” Casey said. “This donation will help provide food for a local food bank and fruit baskets for the elderly.”
Modern Woodmen’s Hometown Heroes program was created to thank community members who “selflessly give of their time to make the world a better place,” Espinoza said.
