Herald & Tribune among newspaper contest winners

NASHVILLE The Herald & Tribune brought home nine awards from the Tennessee Press Associations 2010 newspaper contest.
Awards were presented during the TPAs 2010-2011 officer installation ceremony and awards luncheon Friday in Nashville.
A first place award went to the Herald & Tribune for Best Feature Photograph. Photographer Charlie Mauk received the honor for his creative work on the newspapers Musket Bowl special edition.
Other awards garnered by the H&T include: Community Lifestyles, 2nd place Kristen Swing, Charlie Mauk, Kate Prahlad and Saundra Kelley;
Local Features, 2nd place Kristen Swing, Charlie Mauk and Saundra Kelley;
Best News Reporting, 2nd place Kristen Swing, Kate Prahlad and Lynn Richardson;
Best Education Reporting, 3rd place Lynn Richardson, Kristen Swing, Kate Prahlad, John Kiener and Saundra Kelley;
Best Personal Humor Column, 3rd place Potty Training by Kristen Swing;
Best News Photograph, 3rd place Charlie Mauk.
The newspaper and staff was also recognized with two fifth place awards in the categories of Make Up and Appearance; and Public Service for its work with the American Cancer Societys Bark For Life event.
