Gray man murdered in Fall Branch, Chuckey man arrested

From STAFF REPORTS
A Gray man was murdered last week in Fall Branch, and a Chuckey resident is now behind bars charged with killing him.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, James Henry Allen, 48, 124 Elmwood Ave., Church Hill went to the home of his ex-wife at 175 Cherry Lane in Fall Branch, on May 12 and fired several rounds through the front door.
The gunshots hit and killed Richard H. Carter, 45, of Gray, who was inside the home.
Allen was initially charged with violating an order of protection that had been taken out by his ex-wife in February.
After further investigation, authorities charged Allen with first-degree murder in the shooting death.
Allen was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he allegedly confessed to the crime.
Allen was scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on Monday.
