Furniture Warehouse ‘pickers’ promise collection of sweet deals

Paul and Susan Vermillion moved their business from Johnson City to Main Street in downtown Jonesborough because it seemed like a better fit for their family-owned store.
“I just love Jonesborough. It’s a cute little town,” Paul Vermillion said. “We think it’s a perfect fit.”
Furniture Warehouse was part of the Johnson City community for five years before relocating to Jonesborough three months ago. He said he grew up in the furniture business because of his father.
Before opening a store in Tennessee, he said he had a great business in Florida selling nice, clean furniture for 20 years.
“I enjoy the picking and findings of neat and unique things and passing them on to customers,” Vermillion said.
Furniture Warehouse, 117 E. Main St., sells new and used furniture and decorative accessories. He said as long as the furniture is in good shape and looks great it will be put on the floor for sale.
Vermillion said most of the merchandise in the store is brought to him by current customers.
“The majority does come from my customers who are selling items,” he said.
Estate sales and auctions are also among the places the Vermillions find items for the store.
They will go anywhere they can find a bargain and pass on the savings, he said.
“We do select consigning,” Vermillion added. “We buy and sell and consign.”
The inventory at Furniture Warehouse is always changing and provides a collective mix of all different styles, including antiques and vintage finds.
“Constantly, every week, we have new arrivals coming in,” Vermillion said. “We keep our prices low, so our inventory is constantly changing. It’s fun to come in every week and see new things.”
The Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/FurnitureWarehouseConsignmentStore, provides photographs and descriptions of the new pieces on display. Such items as a wall dressing mirror, an olive striped loved seat, cherry cocktail table and skinny side table have recently graced their page.

Vermillion said Furniture Warehouse is a fun store to browse in.
“They love the variety of everything,” he said of his customers.
Furniture Warehouse is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Although the store is closed on Sundays, customers can call ahead of time to schedule an appointment.
