Fourth District: Jesse Overbey

Johnson City
Part Owner, Foggy Mountain Leather, Bristol
Seeking first term
Consistent, approachable, honest and trustworthy are the attributes Overbey says he will offer as a commissioner. “I like to talk to people, and I can be patient and professional,” he said. “I wouldn’t berate or talk down to people.” Overbey says he will strive to offer good representation for the county at the least cost to the taxpayers.
1. Which committees would you like to serve on and why?
“It would be up to the commission. I’m not familiar with the specific committees, but I have interests in education, finance and economics.”
2. What factors should be considered in a decision on whether commissioners receive benefits?
“Whether it would be beneficial to the taxpayers, and whether it’s fair to receive full-time benefits for a part-time job.
“The decision should be up to the people of whether they need to be compensated full-time for public service when most people don’t have insurance or have to pay for their own.”
