Ferguson seeking reelection as commissioner

Mark Ferguson recently announced his candidacy for reelection to the sixth district of the Washington County Commission. The district includes Jonesborough Town Hall, Jonesborough Courthouse, Midway Outside, Asbury Outside, Marvins Chapel and Fire Training Center.
Ferguson is a lifelong resident of Washington County and resides at 312 Jim Range Road. He and his wife, Sharon, have been married for 30 years and have two adult children — Amber Ferguson Cook of Dunlap and Matthew Ferguson of Jonesborough. The couple also has four grandchildren.
Ferguson and his wife are active members of Cherry Grove Baptist Church.
Ferguson is a businessman, owning and operating businesses in Jonesborough, Johnson City and Gray. He has been a county commissioner since 2005, serving on the CIA and Purchasing committees. He also serves as a member of the Washington County/Jonesborough/Johnson City Economic Development Board.
Ferguson serves as a member of the Greenwood Ruritan and the Washington County Bank Advisory Board.
Ferguson said he doesn’t take his job as commissioner lightly.
“I have a desire to serve the people,” he said. “I will study all issues and continue to be a conservative voice. I will continue to shine the light on the issues. I will continue to fight for financial responsibility.”
