ETSU digital media students take top honors

East Tennessee State University’s digital media students took top honors among the universities presenting their work at the International Digital Media and Arts Association Student Showcase earlier this month in Savannah, Ga.
The three works presented by ETSU students included “Finger Fight,” a short visual effects film created by Joel Gerlach, Harrison Heib, Richard Johnson and Matt Tabor; “An Op Art Experiment in Sacred Geometry,” a light box construction by Chris Zidek; and “Jonesborough,” a projected watercolor in motion by Patrick Adkins.
The other universities entered in the contest were the State University of New York at Oswego, Washington State University at Vancouver, the University of Houston/Clear Lake and Champlain College.
iDMAa recognizes students who are “pushing the conceptual and technical boundaries of digital art and design.”
The judges are members of the iDMAa Industry Advisory Board, and a program award is given to recognize the university with student work best exemplifying excellence and innovation.
