EIGHTH DISTRICT: Matthew Morris

Telford
Regional Sales
Representative,
Unifirst Now
Seeking first term
“My main goals are to shrink the commission size, eliminate subsidizing the health-care insurance, and limit commissioners to two terms,” Morris said. “Serving in the National Guard for seven years has given me experience in helping opposing bodies find common ground, and I will be able to improve the efficiency of the commission while decreasing the burden on the taxpayers.”
1. What are the priorities of a county commissioner?
“To keep the taxpayers’ best interest in mind; to have a subjective view to all resolutions, to analyze whether the opportunity and use for the money requested is the best fit for the county, and to get input on the group it affects; to be as fiscally conservative as possible so the taxpayers can get the biggest bang for their buck.”
2. How will you prepare for committee meetings and meetings of the full commission?
“By reading through the entire agenda packet to have a good understanding of what will be discussed and voted on. If I have questions, I will seek out that information beforehand to be very educated on the matters we will be voting on.”
