Dickson announces candidacy for 6th district

Jonesborough resident Adam Dickson has announced his candidacy for a seat on the Washington County Commission. Dickson will run in the 6th District, which includes the following precincts: Jonesborough Inside, Jonesborough Outside, Marvin’s Chapel, Asbury, Fire Training Center and Midway Outside.
If elected, Dickson said he wants to address three issues. First, he said commissioners need to understand and prioritize the relationship between education and overall economic development.
“When the Board of Commissioners makes education a funding priority, the Board will set the framework for an outstanding workforce, and our community will become more attractive to businesses looking to locate in Washington County,” Dickson said.
Second, he said he believes in an economic development strategy that focuses on entrepreneurship by empowering individuals with the resources to start and build their businesses.
Third, Dickson said he believes Washington County needs a proactive community development strategy as the county continues to grow.
A comprehensive community development strategy, according to Dickson, would allow the County Commission to proactively identify and address those projects that deserve the most attention.
Dickson is lifelong resident of Washington County. He graduated from Carson-Newman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, and earned a Master of Public Administration degree from East Tennessee State University.
