County to get state-funded Pre-K

From STAFF REPORTS
After working for years to get a state funded pre-K program in the school system, Washington County Director of Schools Ron Dykes announced some “wonderful news” at last week’s Board of Education meeting.
“We have tried for two years to beg the state of Tennessee for one of their pre-K programs,” Dykes said. “Now, we have officially received a state of Tennessee pre-K. It will be placed at Lamar School this coming year.”
The state-funded program gives the county school system two pre-K programs, with the other one funded by the Niswonger Foundation. It currently takes place at Grandview School.
