Commissioners receive committee suggestions

Washington County Commissioners learned Thursday which committees they might be serving on at a meeting of the Committee on Committees.
Mark Ferguson, commissioner and chairman of the committee, said he compiled a master list based on which committees commissioners selected as their first, second and third choices.
Committee suggestions are as follows:
Commercial, Industrial and Agricultural — Mark Ferguson, Greg Matherly, Richard Shadden, David Shanks, and Ken Lyon.
Welfare — Pat Wolfe, Joe Sheffield, Alpha Bridger, David Tomita, and Joe Grandy.
Education: Skip Oldham, Joe Corso, Lee Chase, Ben Bowman, and Ethan Flynn.
Public Works: Evert Jarrett, Richard Matherly, Gerald Sparks, Doyle Cloyd, and Mark Larkey.
Public Safety: Sam Phillips, Pete Speropulos, Sam Humphreys, Roger Nave, and Mitch Meredith.
Sixteen commissioners were given their first choice, four received their second choice, and three will serve on their third choice of committee. Two commissioners did not fill out forms at the called meeting on Sept. 1.
The Education and Welfare committees met Thursday, Sept. 9. The CIA committee met Monday, Sept. 13. Public Safety will meet Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m., with Public Works meeting at 1 p.m. the same day.
The first full commission meeting will be Monday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m.
