Ceremony on May 3 will officially open towns new disc golf course
On Friday, May 3, the Town of Jonesborough will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of a new disc golf course located inside Persimmon Ridge Park. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m.
The new course features nine holes winding through the landscape of Persimmon Ridge Park. It has been designed to introduce new players to the popular sport of disc golf, as well as assist veteran players in honing their skills.
The sport of disc golf continues to be one of the fastest growing recreational activities nationally. The towns new course joins nearly 3,000 disc golf courses across the United States, catering to an estimated 500,000 players.
According to the Professional Disc Golf Association, disc golf participation increases by 20 percent annually.
Members of the public are invited to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony where they can get a peek at the newest outdoor activity to take the stage in Tennessees oldest town.
