Boone students arrested on drugs, weapons charges during school sweep

Four Daniel Boone High School students are facing charges after a coordinated narcotics sweep of the school and parking lot last week.
Two of the juveniles were charged with simple possession of schedule IV drugs after they were found in possession of marijuana during Wednesday’s sweep.
Two others face charges of carrying a weapon on school property after they were found to be in possession of switchblade-style knives while attending school.
The charges came as a result of a cooperative effort between the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington County Department of Education in an effort to provide and promote a safer learning environment, officials said. Police K9 units from the WCSO, Jonesborough Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Johnson City Police Department took part in the search.
The teens are scheduled for an initial appearance in Washington County Juvenile Court on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m.
