Barbecue restaurant now open in Jonesborough, pizza place set to open up shop in October

Two new and locally owned restaurants are coming to Jonesborough.
The Creekside Restaurant, located at 109 East Courthouse Square, in the former Dogwood Lane location, opened for business on Monday.
Owners Carol and Mark Hicks and Laurie and Donald Feathers are offering “fine American food with an emphasis on barbecue.”
The Creekside will feature specialty sandwiches and entrees, homemade soups, sauces, dressings and “delicious desserts.”
With a focus on “fresh daily” and “daily specials,” the menu will also include homemade pastrami, brisket and fresh-cooked ribs served in the evenings.
Also coming to Jonesborough is the Tri Cities’ second location of Lil’ Chicago Pizzeria, scheduled to open in Jonesborough in early October, according to the Boones Creek location manager, Marcus Goins.
The new pizzeria will be located at 125 East Jackson Boulevard, former home of the Red Pig Barbecue, adjacent to the George P. Jaynes Justice Center.
The restaurant is owned by Washington Countians, Dan and Crystal Herrell, who said they wanted to open a business that was unique to the Tri-Cities.
The Herrells describe on their website how they came up with the concept.
“We all love pizza (who doesn’t) and nobody in the Tri-Cities was offering an authentic Chicago style pie. So sitting at that table late one night, Lil’ Chicago Pizzeria LLC was born.”
The eatery will serve Chicago-style deep-dish and hand tossed traditional pizza as well as subs and salads. The restaurant will also have a lunch pizza and salad buffet, Goins said.
There are plans to add additional Lil’ Chicago Pizzeria locations throughout Northeast Tennessee, with franchises also becoming available in the future, Goins said.
