Classmates who attended Booker T. Washington School from 1940 to 1965 long before it became Jonesboroughs McKinney Center for the Arts gathered Saturday, Oct. 17, to share stories and reminisce. For 25 years, the school served the areas African-American student population. In fact, it was the only school in Jonesborough for African-Americans to attend during the time, with students traveling to the school from Telford, Limestone and Boones Creek. On Saturday, these former students of all ages came from across the country to once again step through Booker T.s doors. Please look for a full story of the event in the next issue of the Herald and Tribune.
