A doggone good time
From STAFF REPORTS
About 50 dogs and 75 owners showed up for the first-ever Jonesborough Dog Jog at Persimmon Ridge on Saturday.
It went really well, said Melinda Copp, the towns event coordinator. We were pleased with the turnout and are looking forward to doing it again next year.
Participants jogged one mile through the wooded area behind the waterpark, shaded from the hot summer sun.
Door prizes were awarded and contests took place, including ones for most patriotic dog, best trick and an owner/dog look-a-like contest.
The Dog Jog was a pre-event to the towns upcoming Jonesborough Days, a two-day festival set to take place July 3-4 in downtown.
