Farm Credit keeps up market support

Farm Credit Mid-America presented a recent donation of $3,250 to Boone Street Market. The check was presented on Jan. 30, and was used to equip the market’s new kitchen with a commercial ice machine.
This makes Farm Credit the largest corporate donor to Boone Street Market.
“Farm Credit was proud to be the first contributor to the renovation of Boone Street Market, and we are pleased to continue our support to the kitchen phase of the project,” says Heather Butler, financial services officer with Farm Credit.
“Farm Credit’s priority is to assist our local farmers and rural residents in their business development, so supporting Boone Street Market is a logical partnership,” Butler said. “The kitchen will enable even more sales of farm products and more ways to support agriculture.”
Such types of donations have always made sense to the Farm Credit because it is such a local endeavor, she added. “We share a lot of the same customers,” Butler said. “When I was in last week, I saw a couple of my customers then.”
The addition of the ice machine will mean greater productivity for the store, according to Manager Matt Dobson. It will be especially helpful, he said, in packing greens like collards, kale and lettuce to keep them fresh.
