Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam recently proclaimed Saturday, April 30, 2016 as Miss Historic Jonesborough Jacquelyn Crawford Day of Recognition. The proclamation is in appreciation for Crawford’s outstanding community service and dedication towards serving child hunger projects such as the Lunch Box Bus program. “I am so honored that Governor Haslam is taking notice of the work I am doing with the Lunch Box program, and I would like to make this day mean just a little bit more, Crawford said. “Let’s make this a Day of Recognition of Child Hunger.” For six years, Crawford has been a strong advocate for the Lunch Box Bus program that is dedicated towards providing food for local children. The Lunch Box Bus delivers free meals to children in the region five days a week during the summer months. Crawford has taken that initiative a step further by organizing a drive to provide weekend backpacks for children involved in the program. For more information on the Lunch Box Program, call 921-8036.
