Samuel Mays -
Samuel Duffy Mays, Johnson City, TN, died suddenly on February 7, 2013.
He was a graduate of Hillwood High School, Nashville, and of East Tennessee State University, where he studied Graphic Design. Sam was the owner of Fresh Punch, a graphic design firm. He was an active supporter of Downtown Johnson City and ETSU and supported many local civic groups and events, including the Insight Alliance and Red Legacy Recovery. Sam loved Johnson City, loved, and was loved by, many friends and colleagues. What Sam enjoyed most was helping anyone with any kind of need. His talent and creativity were surpassed only by his caring, his sense of humor, and love for fellow citizens of the planet. Sam was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Floyd Mays and Ralph Duffy. He is survived by his parents, Russell O. Mays and Kathleen Duffy Mays, Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Andrew Mays, Huntsville, AL; grandmothers, Mrs. Kathleen Mays, Rockledge, FL and Mrs. Helene Duffy, Jacksonville, FL; aunts, Edith Oathout and husband, Marshal, Mt. Juliet, TN, Barbara Spence and husband, Keith, Greenwood, MS and Marty Mays, GA and numerous cousins and many, many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service was held February 15, 2013, in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services.
