Lady Blazers knock off Lady Pioneers

By Christopher Shields

The 2013 soccer season came to a close last week for both the Lady Pioneers of David Crockett High School and Lady Blazers of Daniel Boone High School.

Crockett’s elimination came at the hands of county rival Boone on Oct. 14 in a 6-1 Lady Blazers’ victory.

Following the win, Boone needed another win to advance out of the conference tournament and into the regional.

After putting together one of their best seasons in school history, the Lady Blazers (15-3-1, 3-2-1) matched up against the conference’s top team, Dobyns-Bennett High School for an Oct. 15 showdown.

D-B got on the scoreboard early but the experienced Lady Blazers locked down the Tribe thereafter in the first half, holding them without another score.

In the second, the Lady Indians offense would return with three more goals.

Boone just couldn’t find the offense to respond, eventually losing 4-0.

While D-B went on to defeat Tennessee High in the conference championship, the loss ended the season for a Boone team that had high hopes on the season.
