Boone, Crockett softball teams go head to head
By Christopher ShieldsThe 2012 state softball runner-up, the Daniel Boone High School Lady Trailblazers, opened 2013 on the road against a familiar foe, the Lady Pioneers of David Crockett High School.
Highly touted Boone freshman Jaclyn Jenkins made the most of her debut in the contest, allowing just two runs in the circle and hitting 2-for-5 at the plate with five RBIs and a homerun.
Boone opened the contest by scoring two runs in the first inning against Crockett pitcher Madison Grindstaff.
Boone added another run in the third, but the Pioneer bats came alive in the home half of the fourth, with two runs to cut the Boone lead to 3-2.
Boone added another run in the sixth and Jenkinsí three-run homerun in the seventh put the Lady Pioneers away, 7-2.
Boone finished with 11 hits in the contest. Crockett collected seven in the loss.
The Lady Pioneers were led at the plate by recent Tennessee Wesleyan signee Jackie Lloyd. She finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
