Cross-country Blazers keep up stellar pace, Bishop turns in strong run for Pioneers
By Christopher ShieldsThe Daniel Boone High School boys’ cross-country team gave another strong performance on Sept. 28 at the Bristol Cross meet, winning easily over every team in attendance.
The Blazers finished in the top spot with a combined score of 45, far outpacing second place Dobyns-Bennett who finished with 123. The 5K event took place at Steele Creek Park.
Boone was paced by second place finisher Adam Barnard who compiled a time of 16:06.1. Also contributing to the Blazers effort was fourth place finisher Roderick Bowman (16:12.0), eighth place finisher Chad Whitehead (16:54.9) and ninth place finisher Jordan Roth (16:55.4). Jacob Cutshall finished 22nd with a time of 17:19.8.
Barnard was beat out by Morristown West’s Quintin McKinnish, who set records with a time of 15:44.6.
At the same event in the girls competition, the Lady Blazers finished in a strong fourth place as a team with a 163 score, enough for second in the conference behind Science Hill, which placed second overall.
The Lady Blazers were paced by Alli Littleton, who finished in 22nd with a time of 21:34.5.
The Lady Pioneers of David Crockett High School finished in 15th place (386) amidst the team rankings, but Crockett’s Carrigan Bishop ran well with a ninth place finish overall.
Bishop posted a strong time of 20:32.7.
The top girls’ time was posted by Makenzie Jones of Morristown West with a time of 19:19.0. Morristown West won the overall team standings.
