The nation’s largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament is coming to Greeneville. The Sports Council of the Greene County Partnership recently announced the Gus Macker Tournament will be making its first trip to the state June 23-24. The tournament will be held in the parking lot of the former Wal-Mart located behind Applebee’s on Andrew Jackson Highway. The event officially begins on Friday, June 22, with early registration. Games begin on Saturday, June 23 at 8:30 a.m. To close out the event, a Slam Dunk contest will be held Sunday evening. The tournament is double elimination with a consolation bracket, dubbed the “Toilet Bowl,” for teams losing their first two contests. Entry fee is $116 per team. Competition has male and female divisions, as well as divisions for adults 30 and up. Whether man or woman, young or old, skilled or not, the Macker Tournament was created so that anyone can play.
