Veterans Day program set for Nov. 10 in town

The Jonesborough Veterans Affairs Committee will present a special Veterans Day musical tribute program on Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Jonesborough Visitors Center.

The program will include performances beginning at 2:10 p.m. by the Gay Whitt Dance Group and instrumentalists Dr. Sharon Nelson-Rush and Howard Rohrer.

The event will begin with the presentation of the colors by the Tennessee Highway Patrol Guard and the David Crockett High School Navy JROTC followed by the singing of the national anthem by Savannah Beales.

The opening prayer will be delivered by Dr. James Harrison, pastor of Jonesborough First Baptist Church.

Jonesborough Mayor Kelly Wolfe will welcome guests and Marion Light, chairman of the Jonesborough Veterans Affairs Committee, will introduce the program, “Home of the Brave,” a patriotic musical written by David Clydesdale, performed by The Heritage Singers and directed by Cherry Smith.

A veterans exhibit update will be given by Deborah Montanti, director of the Heritage Alliance, followed by the retirement of the colors and the playing of taps by James Culp.

A reception will follow.
