Expansion set for strip centerA strip center near the corner of Headtown Road and Highway 11E is about to get a little bigger.
Jeff Jones, who owns the center located between Andrew Johnson Bank and the Captain D’s restaurant currently under construction, requested he be allowed to add 4,000 square feet to the existing 7,000-square-foot building.
The new space could be used for general office space, but not in a retail manner due to the amount of available parking.
Calling it a “good use of the property,” Planning Commission member Chuck Vest made a motion to approve a site plan during a meeting last month. The motion passed unanimously.
At the same meeting, members of the Planning Commission approved a plan for signs at the nearby Captain D’s restaurant being built.
A sign request was also approved for Fast Change Lube & Oil, which is scheduled to open at 411 Forrest Drive, adjacent to Food City.
