Jonesborough to show ‘1776’ film on July 3

The Jonesborough Library will show the film 1776 on Tuesday, July 3, at 5:30 p.m.

It is the film version of the hit Broadway musical comedy about the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

In the days leading up to July 4, 1776, the film follows Continental Congressmen John Adams and Benjamin Franklin as they maneuver young Thomas Jefferson into writing the Declaration of Independence. Complex issues stand in the way of the Declaration, and a single “nay” vote will forever end the quest for a new nation.
