Post Office parking to be limited to 20 minutes
By Kristen SwingParking at the Post Office on Boone Street is about to get a little easier.
“We’re having problems with overflow parking from the Visitors Center at the Post Office,” said Town Administrator Bob Browning. “It’s especially bad during special events. There’s no control over where people park.”
Patrons of the Post Office reportedly have complained to Postmaster Denny Wolfe about the lack of available parking spaces.
To fix the problem, the town’s Traffic Advisory Committee voted on May 24 to create 20-minute time limits for the parking spots at the Post Office.
Notification of the new time limit will be painted on each of the parking spaces, said Town Operations Manager Craig Ford.
A sign will also be put in place to denote the new rule.
“People need to be able to get in and out of the Post Office,” Ford said. “As far as actually enforcing the 20-minute limit, we would do that whenever the Post Office is open.”
