The Johnson City/Jonesborough/Washington County Economic Development Board received a Level II Award from the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence at the 2010 Excellence in Tennessee Awards Banquet in Franklin.

The local agency is one of only two similar agencies in Tennessee to ever achieve this award.

Through a methodology based on the Baldrige National Quality Program, organizations receive detailed training and mentoring to improve their processes and work products.

“We had outstanding mentoring from Dr. Andy Czuchry of ETSU along with a team of MBA students and Tamera Fields from Mountain States Health Alliance to undertake the rigorous organizational reviews required by TNCPE,” said P.C. Snapp, executive director of the Economic Development Board. “Using the Baldridge criteria has enhanced our approaches to economic development as well as the Three-Star and Economic Summit programs. This award also reflects work with our partners at the Chamber of Commerce, Washington County, as well as the municipalities of Johnson City and Jonesborough.”
