WCQR, Second Harvest provide holiday feastsWCQR 88.3 radio and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee will partner for the fifth year in a row to launch Project Thanksgiving, an initiative to provide entire Thanksgiving meals for 5,500 area families.
According to Second Harvest Food Bank and the most recent census data, there are 101,253 people living in poverty in Northeast Tennessee, and as many as one out of four children donít have a dependable supply of food.††
WCQR is asking individuals and businesses for gifts of $25 to sponsor a Thanksgiving feast for a family in need. Turkey with all the trimmings, beans, corn, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, rolls, dessert and more will be included. WCQR also will place a copy of the New Testament in each box.
Boxes are being distributed by Food Bank agencies in each of the eight counties served by Second Harvest.
