Christian Storytelling Festival to feature Matthew West

Grammy-award winning musician Matthew West will headline this year’s Christian Storytelling Festival at Providence Academy.

The concert will be held inside the school gymnasium on Saturday, Aug. 24, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets went on sale this month.

West is an acclaimed singer, songwriter and recording artist who has been nominated for a Grammy four times. Last year, he received a nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music album for “Into the Light,” as well as a songwriting nomination for his contribution to the Casting Crowns’ song, “Jesus, Friend of Sinners.”

In addition to his main solo career, West has worked as a songwriter for many Christian musicians and groups, including Point of Grace, Mandisa and Natalie Grant. He has also worked with mainstream country acts such as Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus and Vince Gill.

West will share stories and songs from his albums at this year’s Christian Storytelling Festival. The event is a fundraiser for Providence Academy’s need-based Annual Scholarship Fund, which supports approximately 25 percent of the school’s students.
