Community thrift store holds ‘cozy coat giveaway’

Jonesborough Community Thrift Store, 612 W. Main St., will provide more than 500 coats during its “cozy coat giveaway.”

Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday through Saturday through Jan. 31. Everyone will be allowed to pick a jacket of their choice for free.

The store also holds a monthly $5 bag sale, during which shoppers can fill a bag full of clothes for $5 with no tax. There is a $1 charge to purchase clothes by piece. The store offers many items, including shoes, purses, bedding, housewares and scrubs.

Jonesborough Community Thrift Store is a nonprofit agency that offers a food pantry, clothing closet, personal hygiene items, social service referrals, health screenings, emergency financial assistance and spiritual counseling.
