Chess tournament Oct. 13

Carver Recreation Center, 322 W. Watauga Ave., Johnson City, will host its first-ever National Chess Day Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 13. Ages 6 through adults can participate.

Registration takes place from 7:45-8 a.m. The tournament will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entry fee is $5 if mailed by Oct. 8; $10 for on-site registration. Entry forms are available at Carver Rec and at www.johnsoncitytn.org/parksrec/. Forms should be filled out and mailed, with entry fee, to: Carver Recreation Center, 322 W. Watauga Ave., Johnson City, TN 37604.
