Cupcake competition to benefit American Cancer Society

On Sunday, July 29, professional and home bakers will come together to fight back against cancer through a Battle of the Batter cupcake competition.

All proceeds from the event benefit the American Cancer Society’s mission of research and local patient programs.

Tickets are $25. Attendees will receive six professionally baked cupcakes of their choice to take home and have the opportunity to sample each of the home baked cupcakes.

Professional bakers will be judged by a panel of “expert” judges. Home bakers will be judged by the public. Trophies and plaques will be awarded to winners in each category.

Home bakers may register for the competition online. Contestants must provide three dozen cupcakes of one flavor.

Categories for home bakers are Best Birthday Inspired Cupcake and Most Original Cupcake, which is awarded for the most creative flavor profile.

The event takes place at 308 E. Main St., Johnson City, from 4-6 p.m. on July 29.
